Aggressive attackers in RESses without being Wanted

After I switched to my Rattaconda to do some recreation in RESses (high and normal) between rescues, I encounter being attacked by ship for no apparent reason. They are wanted, yet I am not, did not blow up others of their faction yet and neither have anything in my hold (aside from fuel limpets).
I also never got attacked when I hunted in the Vulture.
Is that a Conda specific behaviour?

mostly just dumb NPC pirates. if you have a look at their installed modules you'll see that none of your attackers will have a cargo scanner installed and so won't be able to tell what's in your hold. this means that any reasonably sized cargo capable ship is a target to them.

NPC Fer-de-Lances do it in RES for some reason. It's always the FDLs...

It may even be the fuel limpets, the AI is probably dumb enough to see it as cargo, I'm not even sure if they need to scan you, I get the feeling it's in the code.

This is true, me and my buddy learned the hard way that whenever a FDL appears it should be exterminated ASAP or it may just attack. Worse, if it's in a wing the entire wing will start attacking you.

Odd, I've never had this, I often have a wing with an FDL in it scan me, declare that I'm not the one they are looking for, or that I should keep my nose clean, but I've never been attacked randomly by one unless I have cargo.

They are sneaky little bastards, they rarely attack when you face them, most of the attacks happened when we were busy attacking someone else!

Carrying any cargo at all into a RES will make you a target for NPC attacks. Even fuel limpets.

If you want some excitement, carry some high value cargo into a Haz-RES sometime.
Personally, I don't remember ever having an FDL attack me unprovoked. I love seeming them on my sensors since they usually have a high bounty and explode quickly when faced with the wrath of my Vette.
