Huge Gimbaled Weapons, or possibly not!

I don't know if anyone else was following the CG threads on the FD forum, but it seems that the new huge gimbaled weapons being introduced in 2.1/1.6 were/are not a given.

They had to be unlocked via a CG, and now it seams that if FD get the huge gimbaled burst ready in time, we won't actually be getting the huge gimbaled multi-cannon"

Hi,

That is correct. If the Huge Gimballed burst laser is fixed before 2.1 release. It will be the one that you guys have unlocked via the CG.
If it is not fixed we will release the multicannon instead.

Sorry if that was not clear in the CG text.

I'm very sorry if the CG text in this case caused any confusion regarding rewards and timescales. We will take the feedback on board and apply it to future CGs.
I agree that we will unlock the number of 2 huge gimballed weapons that the community managed to unlock during the CG. These being the huge burst laser and huge pulse laser.
If the burst laser is not available for 2.1 release, we will replace it with the huge mutli cannon.
Any other rewards that were not achieved during the CG may become available in other ways in the future.

Well.. you are not alone. I lived in a world where the huge weapons come with 2.1.
This is the first time I hear about this..

Extra annoying because, to quote Newsletter ~120

New Weapons and Drives

As mentioned in previous newsletters, by popular demand the weapon factories of various manufacturers have released new classes of large and huge weapons, including:

•Huge Beam Laser

•Huge Pulse Laser

•Huge Multi-Cannon

•Large Multi-Cannon

The clue is in the name, and needless to say, these pack a punch! They are available on both fixed and gimballed mounts to suit Commanders’ preferences.

I did notice the rewards of the CG, huge weapons, but I assumed it means that when unlocked they are unlocked for sale in that station.

I'm sure that there would have been ** a lot ** of people doing the CG if everyone knew this.

However, this information was only semi-confirmed two days before the CG finally ended, and the shitstorm that was brewing since then has now broken loose with the official confirmation.

Precisely my point, the gimbaled ones are the issue, I want huge gimbaled multis on vette and I'm going to sit in the corner and sulk until I get them :( ;)

What I want is the Yoda aka "Up the f*ck shut, you must" gun. System-wide reach, insta-kill, automatically targets the wedding barge wing when it sends a text message, and you get a nice PIP-style display of the effects when you hit the fire button. With replay, of course.

Dragging myself back onto the topic: The idea of unlocking classes of weapons or other goodies by a CG or series of CGs is not in itself, and if it is done right, it is great fun even it fails ("Remember the 749!"). However, this CG was screwed up in so many ways that the explosion in the forums is understandable. "Well meant is not well done" as we say here in Germany.
