Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hey,

Firstly, great idea for a group I much prefer co-operative play to PvP, so having been approved I make a quick hop from Tobukei Ring to Swift Gateway in Ross 210, one AI interdiction is dealt with pretty quickly, but on approach another pops up, a player this time. Great. He's packing an upgraded Cobra and opens fire on my diddy little Sidewinder. Much maneuvering later, and with a cracked hull, I escape, just.

So not a great start! Definitely a player and his Commander name ties up with a Twitter account that follows E: D related feeds... yay....

So, is this normal for the group? Is there anyone that I should report him to? I've got no bounties on me and have been playing it clean, so to be PvP'd in a PvE group is a little bit off....

Sorry if this is a whiny first post, I really don't mind PvP in open play, but that's not why we are here is it?

First you have to make sure it was a player and not an NPC with a backers name. Those exist also.
Was there a CMDR before the name and was his radar symbol hollow?
If both answers are yes then PM an admin or mod and we record that for future reference. If the name pops up frequently, we will take action.

Sorry to hear you had a bad first time out, I personally have never had any problems with any of the people in the Mobius Server.

As Wolf says, we don't want to publicly "name and shame", a quick PM to an Admin should be sufficient to get the ball rolling.

Welcome to the group and I hope you find that this was either a one off incident or you mistook an NPC for a real player.

Fair enough, but it 'would' be handy to know the name so we can avoid the player if possible.

... if we have proof this was not just a misunderstanding. And there lies the problem with naming in public. Everybody would condemn the named player automatically in their mind. If later it would be proven a mistake, the player will still be marked for a very long time. Not everybody will see the correction for example and he will be mistrusted in general.

The mind is a tricky thing, and once it is made up it is hard to change.

That's bad news if it was a player and it was in the Mobius group. As others have said before me PM the said people with the details. It's not happened to me so far and I've been with the group for a while but a little weeding may be in order it seems.

Yes Wolf I agree but I did mean if it was proven...sorry, I should have added that to my post.

Edit: I think it is a foregone conclusion that we are bound to get the few looking for easy kills but hopefully they will be surprised that some of us (not me) will fight back and hopefully kill them instead

As for P Vs AI, I wasn't aware of the indicators, all I saw was a name and some piloting skills I'd never seen the AI demonstrate before, which either means I missed the signs in my panic or it's a level of AI I'd not yet encountered, PM will be inbound just to double check. I assumed as it's so close to a start system it was a natural vulching point, but never mind.

And slight confession, the forum handle derives from a certain person's description of my real world flying skills. It was a long time ago and I've got much better.... Honest......

Welcome Commander, hope things pick up for you in the group from here on in. If it's any consolation I've not had this experience in the Mobius group and I've been playing in it exclusively since I joined.
