how do you actually get your second ship without actually having to go back 100`s of light years to jump back in it...it seems a shame having to trail all the way back to get into the thing or have i just missed something

No, you haven`t missed anything. Think of it like you`re a real pilot flying a real spaceship. You have to take the ship you`re in, to go and get your other ship which is what you would do in real life. Its just the way it is. Its a pain in the ass. My Eagle is parked 170ly away and I`ll spend most probably the equivilent in its purchase cost on fuel to get there.

So I don`t know if FD will implement a delivery system where you can request your ship be delivered to you or to another star system of your choice or what I don`t know. If they did, they would most likely make you wait a few hours before its at your chosen star, as you would in real life when having a car delivered to you.

You didn't miss anything.

Sell it and buy one where you want to have one.

If you're talking about the first time you want to get to it: in fact your second ship should have been close to where you spawned, but there was a bug that could lead it to be very far away (mine was like 150 ly away). When I read about it, and the fact that this bug was fixed, I cleared my save, and then I started from a different system where my Eagle was too.

If you're talking about subsequent times: I read there is a plan to have your ship brought to you at a price and with a delay, but it's not implemented yet.

Yep, that's a bug alright. Your free eagle is supposed to be in the same system you start at, but because of the bug it started 100+ly away. To fix it, just clear your save and start over, unless you're too far in and don't want to start from scratch again. Once you do restart, your free eagle will be at a spaceport in your system. You can see where in systems map which will have a little ship icon, think it's a sidewinder, on the port where your eagle is.

At the moment the second ship is a bit of a waste. The only thing it's good for is selling to bump up your credits, unless you want to hang about the same systems all the time. Until they bring in some form of ship transports it's a bit of a silly idea in my opinion.

i want to keep the free eagle but when your exploring and want to jump into the eagle you basically can not because your so far away from the system it`s in..as phillip says its pretty useless because its so far away...
