This looks Interesting.

But I can honestly say the last movie I saw in a theatre was back in Canada prior to 2010. Think it was the Star trek Reboot. Don't see that changing for any particular reason.

It's why we have UHD blueray ;)

Popcorn and a coke is OK when your twelve.

But this is how I now do movies
Starts with a homemade meal, maybe pizza or I can make a bread baked in with cheese and pepperoni so decadent I swear it's heart attack in each slice, or whatever.
Chef's choice (so me).
Add on a bottle of wine I like.

Followed by having an undisturbed viewing (with a pause button in case I need to dawg, I usually kill the bottle)
On my 'small' 90" projection screen with a soundsystem the neighbours HATE...

Ok so I spent some money...
But I like my movies and TV shows and don't just watch a film once (don't always make a thing of it) and going to the movies is easily $30 plus the driving and the parking etc etc, not to mention a pile of tween fucktards, which spend two thirds of it to catch up on their facebooking and live tweeting the movie.

Last film I saw in a theater was Guardians of the galaxy I regret it.
Picture was so dull and lacking in contrast, and the sound was so terrible people where putting fingers in their ears during the louder sections.

On blueray this is one of the movies I can nearly approach reference levels with and it sounds brilliant.

Around where I live we have something called the Alamo Drafthouse. Home viewing is good and I watch most of my movies that way, but when you want a big screen, this is the place to go. No under 18 allowed by themselves. Servers deliver food and beverages including good beer, wine or cocktails. A decent bacon cheeseburger with fries and a side of wings + 2 pale ales is around 20 bucks. The regular theaters charge that much for a large popcorn and a coke. Also, 100% reserved seating. Come 5 minutes before the movie starts and go directly to your seat. No lines. A very civilized place to watch a movie.

I must be missing something, but I don't see what illustrates why we can't mess with generation ships. :?

Can't watch movies naked in the theater. :P

I was going to mention those combo restaurant/theater places. The thought of servers constantly walking around, and the sound of people scraping plates and chewing their food, is totally off-putting. I just want to sit in silence in the dark. With the ambient glow from cellphones, I don't imagine ever going out to see a movie again.

Towards the end it looks like some military guys come on board (I guess it could be at the start of the mission?) (they look like Federation LOL)

Ah - I was expecting to see some massive defensive weapons. ;)

I'm not sure I like the looks of that ship - too artsy (and alien) for a massive freighter.

I stopped expecting science fiction from Hollywood now.
Best we can hope for is mildly entertaining space fantasy.

If you like this idea try a TV program 'Ascension' , not sure it got past season one but interesting stuff.

I agree wholeheartedly with Tor on his set up and his mind set. The pause button is a must for my back as I need to walk every now n then. Sit for 20 minutes - nope...

Being single has many many advantages.
