I don't honestly know! I think as an Alpha backer I get 50% discount on repairs but I haven't really got a clue to be honest.

50% for alpha and 25% for beta isn't it?

It does tell you on the right panel on one of the status tabs. I wanted to know what others had in case mine is wrong before I ticket it.

I'm away from my comp at the mo. But i think my upgraded sidey rebuy cost was just over 7000crs

Mine looks alarmingly low. Yes, I'm an alpha backer and started gamma with the Explorer Cobra but even then iirc it's not a 5 figure amount.
I'm at work currently so can't check but the Explorer ship is nicely kitted out with a B rated FSD and other niceties and as such you'd imagine the insurance companies would be out of pocket with such a low sum!
Maybe it factors in the starting option?

ah yes maybe. I'll buy another cobra and switch to it to see if it lowers by a great deal.

Well, I unwittingly tested insurance last night...
I was tired and trying out a few Voice Attack commands and.... managed to faceplant straight into an Asteroid! It wasn't even a boost command, just not looking where I was flying

Correct - it has. So back to Lave I went and it was only 14.4k to reinstate my Cobra with several hundred thousand credits of improvements installed over the base Alpha backer Explorer option.
A bit too cheap if you ask me. Even with the Alpha backer 50% factor taken off that's not much for a ship with a substantial resale value.
On the plus side, I am now up to 1 for insurance claims, so tested that for Frontier
