Ship ID and station greeting?

I renamed my ship and gave it a new ID, BLY-1, but when entering the space of a station the greeting still says "Lima Alpha Sierra", phonetic for LAS, and the original ship ID was LAS-01 or something.
Is this just how it is or is it a bug? Should the greeting say something like "Bravo Lima Yankee" instead?

The phonetic callsign section isn't based on ship ID but the first three letters of your commander name.

Aha, well that explains it
I'm asuming "LAS-01" or whatever was based on the same algorithm then, considering my gamertag and thus commander name is LasseVK.

Yeap. I get an "Oscar Romeo Oscar" because my callsign is Orochimaruh.
