This is kinda what I did when I got in that range. Trading or smuggling can make you a nice bit of cash away from the RES grind and smuggling gets you faction rank. Other than that if you want to increase your faction rank without the cheat then the fastest way to do so I through assassination missions. If you choose to go the route of charity missions then you are going to throw something like 12 million down the drain to get 5 ranks and it is going to take you a few days of effort. Mind you grinding rep the normal way would take a lot longer. Trust me I was a Post Commander when it was the highest rank possible.

I use an Asp Explorer for mining and cargo hauling up to 96 tons with this build. I hate to constantly refit for different jobs, but the mining gear can be swapped out for more cargo space or fuel tanks.

Excellent proposal, I should just mention that it's 57 mils if you get it with the 15% discount.

Which is available to anyone, just head for either lembava or diaguandri, it's worth the trip and then some.

I like the Fed Assault ship for bounty hunts. no room for cargo though

How long does it take to get Rank 5 with the feds?

I got to chief petty officer in a system called Ton or Tun in 2 evenings. Lots of donation missions, switch between open, solo and any group play modes to refresh bulletin board. I upgraded from Vulture for BH and trade to FAS, awesome ship I live it
