Is PowerPlay the best way to gain ranks?

Does this rank thing still work? When looking the station from the map it is not in famine status but in outbreak. Wondering if it has been 'fixed'..

Aand it's gone. The outbreak I mean. Now they are in civil war state. But it seems that only the mission names change, money is still accepted.

If you're looking to rank in the Fed Navy, Tun's Wart in the Tun system always has good ranking missions, including frequent charity missions (donate a few k cr for a high rep gain) and is fairly quiet.

Thanks, that's good to know. I just might go there to see what it's like, as 17 Draconis basically has only donate missions. Can't really do others as the place is quite far away from other systems that have stations.

For the federation, 17 Draconis, Tun and LTT 911 seem to be good spots. However, there is none for the Empire but Cubeo.

Is the ranking still the same. I'm looking to try and up my federation rank (just did the first level the other day) in between doing the current cg's. I heard that the ranking was going to be changed so wasn't sure if this style of mission would still work as well?

Anyone currently grinding through the ranks?

There is at least one power with emp and fed that gives bonus to reputation gain so it could be worth exploring.

This old query is still very relevant so here is the answer. Aisling Duval (Empire) and Felcia Winters (Federation) both give you bonuses to gain reputation faster with minor factions in their respective territories.

I experienced this first hand in Cubeo (AD's capital) where doing missions for the Prismatic Imperium quickly raised me to an allied status with them. This happened way before I got my Allied status with OOM (Azrael is in ALD space so the bonuses don't apply). The higher your PP rank the greater the bonus. Rank 3 with AD gets you 15% reputation bonus whether or not she places in the top 3 in PP. Winter's reputation bonuses should work the same way.

This is the main draw for me since I'm passionately interested in BGS mechanics. Getting to Allied status quicker gains you faster access to higher paying missions with the minor faction of your choice. Successful completion of these is instrumental in getting your favored factions influence levels higher in the minimum amount of time.

Something closer to home for Federation missions is the Tun system and the only station there Tun's Wart

I went from 42% into Chief Petty Officer, all of Warrant Officer and 26% into Ensign in a little over 2 hours.

I spent ab out 517,000 credits on charity missions. Also did the save and restart cycle across, open, 4 private groups, and solo to make the bulletin board refresh. Due to the heavy trading I did on missions I got allot of attention from Pirates so had pretty good BH totals, lots of exploration and a pretty fulfilling night
