I haven't run any missions since before Horizons. Today I'm driving around on a planet in my SRV and I get a mission critical message that says someone is out to get me. Then I get another message from a hidden contact that I couldn't see. I'm thinking WTF? So I take off and there is a deadly Anaconda that broadcasts that he has the target in sight and is lining up. I assume he's talking about me. I maneuver and see that he is a wanted mission target. So I interdict him, KWS him, and open up. His shields don't appear to be going anywhere soon. He has some special heat weapon that I could live without seeing. He's chaffing like crazy and starts opening up with multicannons. Thankfully the cops show up to investigate and join in against him, but I still manage to lose my shields. So I boost away to regenerate my shields. By the time I get back his shields are down and he's at about 49% power plant and 27% hull. When I'm still about 4-5km away he starts charging his FSD. I boost and open up with my large multicannon targeting his power plant. It drops very quickly to 1% and the hull drops to 9%, and they stay there for about 5 seconds until he jumps out, all the while I'm pumping MC shells into him.
So I jump into SC to see if I can spot him, even though I don't have a wake scanner, and there he is. I try to interdict him again but get too close to a planet and crash out of SC, but there he is, and somehow he's at 100% hull. WTF! He still says mission target and wanted and I open up - and get a bounty for attacking some innocent snow flake. I decide to bug out rather than have the cops show up and attack me. While sitting in another system waiting for my 10 minutes to expire, I check out the transaction tab and see a courier mission. I did not sign up for any missions!
So how screwed up is this?
Have a contract I didn't sign up for. Could an engineer have forced it on me? Maybe I clicked on something by accident.
The guy stops taking damage and manages to escape. Is that normal for targets that get away?
30 seconds later his hull has magically repaired from 9% to 100%. Is that normal when a target jumps?
Do you really have to re-scan targets that clearly already say 'mission target' and 'wanted' in red?
