The question is, how many players fight for the liberals? Wolf told me yesterday that lots of people were siding with the liberal to see the capital ship run away.

Because if the numbers of players are similar on each side, they wouldn't cause the balance to shift much, I think.

I've had something similar since the early betas, but it's so rare I always think the problem's been fixed. Sometimes on launch the controls get bugged. Press ESC - which should take you to the menu but apparently switches to the desktop - then press ESC again. This often brings you back with the controls sorted. This didn't work for me yesterday and I finally ticketed it.
Oh and another thing whilst I'm ranting....Please make the destination markers a diff colour when they are BEHIND planets......Twice tonight they have been the same colour as infront........Lucky I realised a 3000 odd Ls journey must take me beyond this huge rock that I see.........

I preferred the hi-vis glow of the late Beta, but I can see how it could be confused with background stars and ships. Perhaps a pulsing centre dot might be better. If the target is behind a planet, you can't see the dot. Usually, I try to put the target between my position and the planet to avoid the gravity well and this usually resolves any issues of interpretation of location.

Re: Influence - I always believed the Influence track indicated that party's power on the station and that the blue triangle represented a change brought about by my actions. It's all guesswork; we're only little cogs in the machine.

Played for about four hours last night with NO interdictions.

Not to hijack a thread, but...

How do you know which missions are rep missions? I still have not been able to pick them out in the board.

Are the rep missions used to gain rank in a faction?

All missions give rep I *Think*....But there are also some that state "Reputation gain" as the reward.....

Also some supply missions which are like mercy missions asking for food or whatever....

You do not get paid for them.....

I think you might get rep from everyone involved. Certainly from the faction commissioning the mission and from the receiver if it's a delivery. But also from the bloc controlling the station, which is why you may see friendly greens in other systems.
It's complicated, which is probably why so many people claim the rep system is damaged.

To be honest, I have no idea. Until FD give some kind of guidance as to how this is supposed to work we are all working in the dark :D

Ahhhhh...Interesting.....

I had not thought of it like that.....

So could the percentage value be what you say........The factions influence within the system.........And the progress bar your rep with that faction ?

I'll have to keep an eye on the bar and the numbers the more missions I do.......

Unless someone knows for definite that is............


The numbers and the bar are the name and show that faction's influence within the system (repeated in the system map). The player is either Neutral, Friendly, Hostile or whatever. The actual rep. value is not shown anywhere.
