Damaged while submitting to interdiction

So I was flying toward Olivas City (LHS 3505) in my Asp. I saw on my radar an Eagle that had a bounty. I was debating interdicting, but thought that if I leave it, it'll try me and save me the trouble.
I was right, it flew past me, turned and there was the familiar interdiction alert.
I submitted and got ready to fight. But even though I'd cut the throttle (and even the HUD reported submitting), I still got an FSD Failure message and 6% hull damage (about 11,000 Cr) from it, and was left spinning.
Nevertheless, I dispatched my attacker without taking any more damage and continued my journey.
This is another oddity though. There are way more interdictions than there have been in the past, and now it seems that even submitting won't save one from hull damage. If this is anything but a bug, it's going to make it pointless flying any big ships as the cost for repairs will add up extremely quickly.
Most disconcerting.

That's strange, although interdictions have been more often, never had this problem when submitting.
As for the last part, it's like in my 35 years sailing IRL : "small ships, small problems"

Same problem here, too! I always submit immediately, but in the last few days, about half of submissions resullt in spinning and at least 2% damage (10kcr+ in Asp).
Most annoying!

I have experienced this on multiple occasions as well.

Yes, it happens to me, too. I have taken to putting the throttle to zero, but continuing to try and fight it, which seems to work better.

Certainly can confirm this too. Have been submitting for the last week or so due to being taking out of SC prior to the mini game completing also taking damage.
Since the latest patch it appears to be 50 - 50 that submitting also takes 2% of health. Stopped flying the Cobra and back in the Adder due to the running costs of this. The combat in the Adder is also more fun due to not thinking half way through the combat, this is going to cost me in the pocket.

Even when submitting you still need to try to align yourself with the escape vector. If you are misaligned from the escape vector when you drop from frameshift, you will take damage and have a heat increase proportional to how far off the escape vector you were.

How does one "submit" when indicted?
Thank you.

Reduce throttle to Zero

Ah, that's simple enough.
I note that when I get indicted in Super Space Drive I get an escape velocity target. I got hit three times today by NPCs and on the last time I aimed for that escape velocity target and after a long struggle in keeping it on my sights, I fell out of super drive and the indicted had failed and the attacker was nowhere to be seen. I'm going to aim for that escape velocity target each time I get indicted and see what happens
