Ship for PvE

Is there a good fighter under 1 million cr, fitted out?

I currently am working on my T-6 for exploration and I was wondering if there were some lower cost ships that would allow me to experience PvE in order to enhance the variety of missions available to me, not just hauling and exploration. I am thinking about a 2nd ship, not trading in the T-6 yet. Thanks in advance.

Viper is cheap and competent if 1M is your limit and you already have a trading ship. Fun to fly too.

I think I decked out my Viper to a top spec for around 2.5million, though even at around a million it would be up to a reasonable spec. I fitted out an Eagle for around a million once with decent weapons, mirrored armour and good shields.

It's a bit over a million, but this Eagle has mirrored armour and gimbled weapons...

The new Diamondback Scout is an **AMAZING** little fighter, and it won't break your budget! Myself and 2 of my bounty hunting buddies kitted some DB Scouts this weekend and they are an absolute blast to fly! Maneuverability rated at 8 (same as sidewinder, almost as good as Vulture), 2 medium hardpoints, and 2 small hardpoints. For under $1mil, I would start with a loadout like this.

you can then upgrade modules as you see fit. Mine is here, if you care to take a look.

Quick question and don't mean to hijack the thread but I believe it's on topic. What is the next combat ship to aim for past the Cobra MK3? I'm a returning playing and have no clue. I've got about 6mil invested in this little beast and am wondering where to go from here.

Chloroform, the next dedicated combat ship up from where you are (the Cobra is actually a multi-role veichle) is the Vulture. Entrance price is right about 5 million, and you can decently gear it out in D's and C's for about 3 million more. A cheaper alternative might be the Imperial Courier if you have the appropriate rank, but that is more of a side-step then an advancement as it only has 3 medium hardpoints compared to the 2 Large on the Vulture. Be warned however, any move up to a dedicated combat vessel is going to hurt you in jump range compared to your Cobra most likely. This is offset by much stronger shields, faster speed and the best maneuverability currently in the game- 9. Even just using 2 gimbaled E3 pulse lasers this thing can wreck a Master lvl Conda rather quickly when you target the power plant.
The next step up from there for combat price-wise is the Imperial Clipper (Fantastic, ask anyone that owns one) and the Federal Dropship (absolutely terrible), though they are both multi-role ships as well and will run you around 20 million for the Drop and 23 million for the Clipper.

I was using mine for combat, and "upgraded" the other way, to a vulture. The clipper is a massive ship, and suffers way more hits from turrets than a little vulture.
