Maybe I can do enough combat/assassination missions when I get back to the bubble to get one more military rank mission and hit the top level.

I was getting a bit bored with what I was doing...Had no goal in mind.....

Decided last night to work on my rank......Which I have been stuck at for months......

That will help.....Although not quite so sure as I have been taking pirate kill missions for what seems like forever.....

Then again maybe I should note WHO I am taking them for......

But that would involve being sober and thinking.......

I've been tearing my hair out for the last few days over this! But it would be nice to see this "background" score or can we? I've been getting a feel for combat and doing bounty hunting in frigaha which all the stations I dock at are federation - and seeing no federal navy missions at any station I dock at whilst dropping off cargo and illicit goods "whistles" so was actually starting to worry as my next immediate goal is to move my home system to Sol and that was looking like a non starter...

It's best to concentrate on one aligned minor faction, rank missions start to kick in when you increase your rep with a minor faction, it is not linked to your rep with the major faction.

Pick a minor faction (one that is aligned to the Federation in this case) and run missions only for that minor faction, if there are no missions available go do something else until they appear again. If you are bounty hunting in that area do not attack ships that are aligned to the minor faction you are supporting, do not run missions for any of the other minor factions in that area.

At a certain point the RNG will kick in for a rank progression mission, but be warned it is RNG so there will not me an immediate trigger.

Well I went from nothing to Midshipman in Federation last night in practically one sitting following the directions set out in this forum post I found.

Whether or not this helps, I figured I'd spread it around. It basically only requires money and time, as ranking up in a faction seems to be, according to what I've seen, tied to the number of missions you have completed. It correlates with what I've read on the above link.

I seeeee... Time to grind missions and be a little more cautious as my actions could be actually hindering if the "wanted" targets are eravate aligned!! Thx for the info guys

I do like the changes to the board that show the Faction Icon on the missions. Makes it easier to choose than flipping back and forth with the status screen.
