Confusion in the conflict zone

Postby buksida » Sat Sep 12, 2015 2:17 pm

Wanted to have a go in a CZ, first time (still Harmless) so chose a low intensity one. There were about 20 ships or so shooting each other, all appeared to be system authority ships or part of the same group. How do you know which ones to attack?

I boosted out of there as I didn't want an entire posse of ships bearing down on my Adder!

Any tips for survival and racking up some kills in conflict zones?

In a conflict zone, 2 factions which are at war with each other are fighting each other. You need to chose a side to fight for. Once you've decided which faction to support, go into the right screen, under functions, the top option is 'Faction' and select your chosen faction. You will then become hostile to the 'enemy' (and they will become lawless so you can attack without annoying local security forces) and you will see them as hostile 'red' on your radar. You get a fixed amount in a bond for destroying each type of ship, which you need to take to a local station and cash in under combat bonds in the contacts station menu.

Note that you can only select your faction from inside the CZ, and you must set it each time you leave and return.

It's also recommended that once you enter the CZ, fly away from the swarm of ships before choosing a side. Otherwise you might get attacked by several ships at once and get blown to bits before you have a chance to do anything. Once you choose a side, approach the swarm cautiously and pick targets toward the fringe to attack until you get settled in.

Good info cheers - think I might stick to swatting pirates around RESs until my combat rank and experience is better before heading into another CZ.

Basically what I done. Going into a CZ is suicide without the right ship protections and weapons. I found that out the hard way!

I need your help. I continue to struggle with my Python in CZ's. I haven't done a lot of CZ's. I do fine in RES with the Python and pretty well with my Vulture in a CZ. I am ranked combat Master and I'm only 8% away from a promotion. :)

If I take my Vulture into a CZ, I do fine. I just finished a 1.5 hour session in the CZ for the CG. Got about $1.3 million, used 2 SBC's and 2 chaffs. I never completely lost my shields the entire time.

I've taken my combat rated Python into the same low intensity CZ, and I feel like I have a huge target on my back. I seem to draw a **LOT** of fire, and my shields get destroyed in short order. I seem to only be able to kill a few ships before I have to jump out or risk getting blown up. BTW, I got blown up in the CZ yesterday morning. That was the first time in ages that I've lost a ship. $6.6mil gone. :( The good news is that those irritating little trade vouchers that were on my transactions tab are now gone too. ;)

Here's my Python configuration, if it helps. I can attack just fine, but I don't know how to keep 3-4-5 ships from continually attacking me while I'm working on one. That doeesn't happen when I use the Vulture. Occasionally I'll have a 2nd ship attacking, but it's usually not a big deal.

I always enter the CZ and boost away from everyone, pick a side, then pick a target on the fringe and work from there. What else should I be doing?

How do I keep so many ships from attacking me all the time?

i think you might have answered your own question, i had the same problem with my Anaconda. after bringing her out of CZs a couple of times with a split lip and black eye, i figured i'd just keep her for signal sources and the RES, and i'd only go into CZs with a Vulture. it's worked out well so far. that's working alone, though. maybe flying in a wing might be a different story.

JL here is my Combat Python setup: http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/06B6A5 ... s%20Rising
Does well for me. Discovered the Rail Gun is excellent at removing shields off of larger ships quickly! Although one issue is that to use the SCB I have to retract weapons for it to have any power

Thought about this a bit more - I sometimes get that, but mostly it is 1-1 or 1-2. But maybe it is because a Python/Clipper/Conda etc are larger ships and the smaller ships gang up a little bit more?

Well my A rated Python (In Beta) nearly got it's arse handed to me on a plate last night.....

Fecking wing of an Anaconda and 2 vultures......

Managed to take the Anaconda down and half a vulture......But had taken a battering from them in doing so......

So combat rule 31 was implemented......G.T.F.O.

Tor.....Hold on.......Tor.......Wait a bit.....TOR will you stop fecking firing.......Ok......Tor I know a therapist that can help you....... :D My Cmdr also has small feet
