OMG I am going for Rear-Admiral but is so boring and stupid to just accept and hand back 415 charity missions.... i think FD have to review this, it`s insane.. also quit on the main menu and go back..

I made it to post commander without cheating the bulletin board pre 1.2. That said I am now in Tun and have spent over 1.1 million on charity missions looking for my next rank. After that I will allow it to happen naturally, but I want to ensure I don't miss out on the federal corvette just because of one rank.

Now I don't know if it is wholly accurate, but I read somewhere that turning in bounties is a faster way to gain rank.. I did a mix of charity, Trading and bounties to get the two ranks I needed for Baron.

Frontier actively doesn't want us to know how the ranking is weighted. They have given out multiple different answers to different support queries by different people and requesting information on the forum often ends up with Alexsej (sp?) coming in and being an arse and trolling people as a mod. Because, y'know, that seems to be what he does best.

Personally, I agree that they borked ranking somewhat, certainly made it hellaciously grindy with the later updates. Definitely not fun if you're focused on the rank.

which is why I try to do a bit of everything ^,^

most of my rank-ups came from smuggling illegal stuff and collecting illegal floating stuff, and i don't recall that going from post commander to rear admiral took overly long.

going the donation route seems to be a long-winded way of getting there, there's no way i'm going to take hundreds of those just to avoid doing tens of the other mission types

I just made sure the missions I was doing was for the empire aligned sub powers

The main thing that concerns me is that back when I was aiming for Post Commander you would see the odd 10k charity mission, but the majority would be for 100k to 1 million. Now you see a lot more of the lower cost missions and I see those as give away rep to people with lower ranks.

I don't want then to be removed, but if they are being abused by people then it makes sense to go back to the old values so that if you want to reach Rear Admiral it will cost over 400 million. I personally would be willing to throw 100 to 200 million at the feds to go from Post Commander to Rear Admiral.

If you thing that sounds crazy then understand that I am doing this to guarantee that I can buy a Federal Corvette at release. If you are doing it for the same reason and don't have that kind of money to toss around you probably wont be able to afford an A ranked version of the ship anyways.

Doing only Smuggling and simple data/goods deliveries. Not taking any kill missions or We Need ___ goods at all.

And yes, its boring, but I also am using the time to get more stories in my head So it is serving a purpose.

I think that also assassination mission give you the same rep as charity.... but the problem is that sometimes you get a bounty in the system and Often is FEDERATION... and I think that this may bring you down and lose rep.... ... also you can find you target quick or just wait for him half an hour....

I love kill pirate mission as I bounty hunt regurally so no problem... but this missions are not for the same system/.... so you have to fetch 3 pirates here... 4 there... 3 on another system which Often doesn`t have a RES... so interdiction... which is slow...

I do it anyway sometimes just to change the routine..

and yes I am also trying to mix all up BHunting, Undeemining, Cz, Ranking... but ranking still the worst...

think about that, it was really better like : Rank 1 = Kill a python ( or smuggle something not so difficult ) Rank 2 = Kill a python in a wing ( or smuggling something more difficult) Rank 3 = Ananconda elite etc.. at Rear Admiral would be Kill a wing of 4 anaconda 3 python 4 vulture !!!! so you have to go with a wing... so that mean that you have to put Twamwork.... and you really feel like acting like a real RA or something.. that would be awesome !!!!
