Definitely worth picking up Salvage!

Postby IronDuke » Mon Nov 02, 2015 2:50 am

Picked up some nice salvage on the way back from the California Nebula ..
An Imperial Clipper was blown to bits with this nice little trinket floating around in the wreckage

Edit: It's worth kitting out some cargo racks if you are going out exploring.

Yup, I brought home 8 of those from my last trip. The small data caches are only worth 8-10k (I forget), so I jettisoned them when I found more large ones.

I also ran across six occupied escape pods, but I didn't pick one up. I really should have dumped my cargo to save the occupants, but I was a bastard. Anyway, I figured they wouldn't want to be rescued until after Horizons is released.

Anyone know what occupied escape pods go for?
It's time to give this another go.

Unless you have mission for escape pods. Those show up in your cargo and the black market as "slaves" not imperial slaves but just plain slaves..

I'm on the way back to Azrael after a few days exploring and have one large and one small data cache. It's a real shame that the value isn't added to your exploration tally as it's survey data.

I picked up some over the weekend while looking for something else in a WSS. I didn't want to leave them out there to die. ;)

I think they paid around $8-10k each at the black market.

Not much money, but at least I brought them back to civilization.

Yeah, I figured it would be something stupid like that. I'd think slaves would be in cargo containers and escape pods would be reserved for crew. But FD wants to make you a criminal and fine you, as well as force you to sell them or jettison them, rather than allowing you to rescue and free people in escape pods.
It's time to give this another go.

Think it's another nod back to old elite where I believe this also was the case.
Along with how if you accepted a passenger mission without life support they would become "meat" when you left the station...

I've only ever found stuff that wasn't flagged as "illegal" when it was part of a mission.
It does seem strange that you can't rescue people in escape pods and get some sort of reward for returning them to safety.

I'd happily return them for no money just rep with the associated government/faction.
