It seems to be the pricepoint. :|

Don't care myself, I just want to fly the damn things. Can't wait for the day I have an Anaconda with a Sidewinder in the belly. That is going to be awesome!!! :)

I'm with you on the "not caring" front.
Seems to be a little pricey and a little disappointing though. :(

Personally I'm glad they're so expensive that I don't even consider buying them. Saves me the dosh... :D

The skins are purely cosmetic, they provide no in game advantage. Frontier tested the waters with this when they sold the wireframe Cobra for £10. Obviously enough people bought it to justify the price tag. Personally it's too expensive for a skin but these are limited editions so I guess that's the idea, not too many people will buy them and you get to feel special.

My main gripe is that you still can't see your own skin! They need to get drones into the game asap in my view or skins are slightly pointless. That said I still own 2 of the cheaper ones, I like red, don't judge me!

Well, since I have no way to "enjoy" aka see my ships hull, the offering of paintjobs is somehow like fancy "design CPU coolers/fans": Useless!
If they manage to finally introduce an external view, though...
I would love to see my ship racing through space in all its beauty like in all the videos! And yes I would consider a paintjob!
In fact, I would love an overlay area 200x200px for an individual decal that could be seen on the hull! That would be awesome!
Alas! How shall we have a look at it? It's a shame, that the fear of "cheating" has come that far, to wipe such a basic feature from a spacesim? (I wonder what bad you could really do with an external view around your ship, that the scannners can't do?)
Fingers crossed, may be they go with my idea to introduce it in solo play at least...

I bought the Cobra's wireframe skin and that Viper's chrome one (plus a couple of cheap ones) as a way to support Frontier, as I missed the chance to be a backer. I usually hate micro-transactions in games, but in this case it's OK, IMO, precisely because it doesn't give you any advantage on those who cannot afford them.

I quite like the wireframe skin for the Cobra. Still need to try out the UK flag one for the Viper (Rule Britania and all that)
-I fly the ocean black, and my little ship goes warp 10-
-Theres nothing that we lack (unless theres something we've forgotten)-

Missed the wireframe skin myself. Still the Viper skin seems too expensive to me. I think the sub $5 USB pricepoint is much better. But these are just micro-transactions that are optional to support the game long term. Since they don't give anyone an inherent advantage I have no issue with them personally.

Though I do wish they were cheaper, maybe they'll make more bundles in the future.

I saw someone say on the official forum that these ship skins are the equivalent of Hats in Team Fortress and I think that's an apt comparison. I just wish we could make our own skins and/or decals. Hell if we could sell them and Frontier got a percentage of the sale that would be damn cool...
