Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

At the moment, I'm 67% into Ranger and I've been out scanning stuff for a week now trying to get my rank up.

Since i found a huge neutron star field - I decided to stick around and try to reach elite. Now, my question is - what's the aprox amount of exploration cash you need to earn to actually hit Elite? My current exploration stats say i cashed 44mil Credits and that got me to 67% ranger.

How accurate is the table over at explorer wiki? It says you need 161,000,000 Cr for elite which means i still need like 120mil and by my rate of scanning neutrons it looks like it will take forever to reach that amount (apparently i need to scan around 2800 neutron stars )

Since I've been with ALD since the beginning of PP, I was thinking of switching PP factions to get at least some boost to exploration. Is there a faction that gives more bonus for exploration? And since all my ships are in ALD space - will i get wanted there and shot at by the NPCs for leaving the faction?

Also - can anyone with elite explorer rank check how much they earned when they got promoted? thnx!

I recently got to Pioneer with just under 58 million CR. I found that each 1% required roughly about 400k CR. I am now 0% toward Elite. Looking at other people's stats it seems that each 1% will require about 1 million CR. So it seems that you need to earn about 160 million CR to hit Elite.

If you defect,they will hunt you down. If you leave ALD, no action will be taken.

If you leave and change powers, you would be considered "Hostile" in ALD space. It's an extremely empty threat, though. You will have the same PP interdictions as always, and you are free to dock in stations with no additional risk. I dock in 'hostile' space quite often.... it's no different than being in friendly space.

I know, tell me about it. It took me over a year to get to Pioneer earning 58 million CR. To get another 100 or so million CR is gonna take me a looonng time...especially as I find it so boring...

I started playing ED on new year's eve (31.12.15)

I got elite in exploration on 4th March.

During that time I saw about 20 neutron stars and no black holes, and was never further than 12kly from sol.

The money is in the good planets.

Just think about what stars have the good planetary systems and only go to those stars. Then surface scan the good planets.

Turn off your auto-pilot. If the star isn't blue or yellow, don't waste time going there.

The last trip that got me elite made about 45mill for being out in the black about 8 days.

Let's say it takes 161 million CR earned to reach Elite. I am currently Pioneer and have earned 58 million CR so I need to earn another 103 million CR.

The wiki says that the value of scanned stars ranges from 2,900 - 7,900 CR. If I was only to scan the main star in each system I visited at an average of, say, 5,000 CR per star I would need to scan 20,600 systems. If I scanned planets as well, and upped the average value to 10,000 CR per scan I would need to scan 10,300 bodies. That's still a lot!

When I visit the system I scan everything of value. (Stars, ELW, WW, Metal planets and Gas giants).

At the moment I'm just jumping from one neutron star to another with white dwarves in between. If there's a gas giant, earth-like/water planet in less than 1000ls distance - i scan those too. Otherwise i just jump to the next system.

Again, IF the cash table on wiki is correct - that means i'm earning 45k Cr minimum per jump.

So 120mil / 45k = 2666 neutron stars scans to reach elite for me. If i throw in the stuff i scanned before i got here (somewhere 10k Ly out) + the few extras around each neutron star i find - i might round it to 2300-2400 new neutrons i need to visit.

IF i don't die of boredom - I can easily cover 100-200 jumps per day (takes a minute and a half to jump and scan the star) - sooo... i need roughly 3 weeks of scanning?

I'm Pioneer and 10% towards Elite, currently out exploring in the hope of getting closer. Taking my time but that jump from Pioneer to Elite is a big one! Lot's of scanning needed so I need to focus on that and not get sidetracked with other games while waiting for 2.1
