SO I finally can jump back into game and started exploring the beta. I am wondering though, has anyone calculated the mass to range increase you get for upgrading your FSD?

It's randomised. So if you are most likely going to take what you get.
Unless you have an inane amount of time and patience.

If you've got enough hard points and all the modifications I wonder if you can shoot a rainbow at someone?

I think your jump range can go up about 30%. IIRC, my vette went from 10.5 to 13.2 and python from 13 to 18 ish.

edit* people are also asking for a straight up 'tell me what my new jump range' number is, instead of the optimized mass and mass that makes you do math to figure it out.

I found you can simply open the functions tab.
That clearly lists your jump range.

I was talking about seeing your increase in range when choosing to accept/deny the engineer upgrade you just rolled. Maybe that's not what Mouse was asking about.

That would be nice but you should be able to easily guess that higher optimal mass and increases to max fuel injection means more range.

It's fairly well defined what ranges you can end up with.

But all in all you end up rolling the dice.
So it remains a grinding fetch quest on top of a single player game of yatzhee.

Personally if it displayed a range.. say my range is 32 ly.. so when you work with the engineer it gives you a range say like 35-39 ly, or if weapons it can be DPS, etc... that I feel would give you a better and quicker understanding of if it is worth going through with it.

You get the possible ranges before. That's it.
It's like being told a dice can give any value between 1 and 6. Not really mind blowing.

Any and all results require that you expend resources and roll the proverbial dice.
In short you HAVE TO use the materials in order to see what you get.
Funny part even if you have already used the goods you have the added step of applying the mod.
You might as well do that even if the result is middling since you never know what you will get nextand you can just remove and old mod or apply a new one.
