Anybody using them?

I am having big problems trying to get a docking request macro to work with my CM Storm Trigger.
Recorded the macro but have no response.
Does ED recognise macro software?

The problem with Macros, especially for something like Docking Request, is that the game remembers the last Tab that was open whenever you open that screen, so you would have to reset the Tabs to the first Tab before closing the screen everytime. We need a Docking Request Keybind to be honest.

We need keybinds for a lot of things! And support for any HID controller would be nice... They just updated the "list" of Vendor and Product IDs to "hopefully" support all gamepads out there. I have a complete Thrustmaster HOTAS rig, cougar mfds plus diy USB controllers.
Actually I don't understand, why they don't import the controllers from DirectX enumerated devices?
...and give keybinds for menu tabs, systems etc.

I've got a CH Pro Throttle, and just recently set up some simple macros for about four energy pip settings I use most frequently. In combat I like being able to throw my pips around without having to hit buttons multiple times.

I've contemplated other macros, and seen other people use them for things like Docking Requests, as well as landing setups (pips to 4 shield/2 engine, gear down, lights on) but don't know how much value I'd find in them. I've already got all of the individual commands from the landing setup on my HOTAS.

These macros - are they a function of particular controllers, or could I - using a Frankenstein setup involving two separate sticks from two different manufacturers... But it would be handy to be able to apply command sequences to buttons and keys - I just have no idea how you do it. :)

I've got two different controllers (Logitech 3D Extreme Pro, CH Pro Throttle). The throttle came with some software "CH Control Manager", and it was fairly easy to set individual hat switches on the throttle to run macros. The software doesn't see the Logitech stick, but I'm fine with that...ED sees them both.

The software isn't very intuitive, but this guy https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwvZzxFg2RS8j-34RuwzfCfU6VjQj9EQU has a good (although chatty) series that steps you through it. Basically, with the CH Control Manager running, you wiggle the hat you wish to bind, and then uncheck "DirectX" in the software, and you can set it to record a set of keystrokes. I had jotted down some notes from messing around in-game that would set up my pips how I wanted, and then just recorded them in the CH Control Manager.

I am not at home at the moment but essentially you need.

Ensure you have key bindings set in ED control option ( I used secondary keys for keyboard presses and primary for joystick actions)

the macro you need to setup should correspond to the following actions
open the left panel
right tab
right tab (to get to the contacts tab)
select (to select the station)
down (to highlight request docking)
select (to actually request docking)
left tab
left tab (to get back to the left panels default position)
close the panel and go back to cockpit view

Hope that helps. Any probs give me a shout and I'll go through it in more detail when I have a) more time and b) Elite in front of me :)

you may need to fiddle with the timings a bit to ensure a long enough delay between actions.

Edited due to having an extra step in that was not required. Damn my old brain.

I'm at work at the mo... But from memory mine is
Open left panel
Right tab
Right tab
Select
Down
Select
Close left panel.

My secondary bindings are.
T for target panel which is the left
N for next tab
S for select
D for down

So my macro looks like T,N,N,S,D,S,T With a 0.2ms pause in between commands.

It works if you do not touch anything in the left hand panel after coming out of SC at a station. If you alter anything in the left hand panel and take the intial tab away from navigation it will not work. It will also not work if you get refused for requesting to far away from station.

I have a vid of it working but as said i,m away from the comp at the mo.

Thankyou for the pointers gents.
I shall give it another go shortly.
After setting up my X55 the key bindings have gone AWOL so i'll have to set them up again.
:)
