Fines, bounties and whatnot.

I have accrued a 901 credit fine through not knowing where my jettison button was. The only problem is that its in a system I cannot get too with my hauler.
1 - Is there any way to pay the fine without being in the system?
2 - If there isn't then what are the consequences of not paying the fines?

I thought you could pay the fine off in any station.....
Contacts-->Pilots federation-->Pay fine

1. Not at the moment I think. Can you reach it if you empty your cargo hold, and/or sell hardpoints? Full fuel tank? These actions increase jump range.
2. Take a look here. See "consequences":

Watch out for scans when docking!

Sell your hauler and buy a half price Cobra if you have enough pennies

I have landed in several independent systems and have not had the option to pay the fine

Do you still have the fine? It's wiped upon death. I hear you are a patron of the Station Bouncing Community...

Well, the 24 hour period is up and the fine has gone, so I'm not sure what happened.
And yes I am. More often than not you will find me crashing into the docking port cage. I even tried to emulate that bit in the FE2 intro where the courier flys through the middle of the ringed space station.... That didn't go too well

I was of the understanding, that if a fine was not paid off within 24 hrs, then it escallated to a bounty ?
I might be wrong

I think it depends on the crime. Take a look here:
