Question about bounties

Hi everyone!

One small question about bounties. For some reason i have a bounty on my head. Don't really know how it happened, i do not play as a pirate or anything. Maybe it did something wrong :-(
Currently i am far outside the bubble and i realize that there is a timer to the bounty. So does that mean if i wait until the timer is up, i get rid of the bounty? Because i really don't want to risk flying back with all my explorer data only to be destroyed from a bounty hunter.

Thanks for your help!

Generally speaking, bounties reactivate and reset their timer if you are scanned with a KWS by either a player or an NPC before the timer expires. If you are outside the problem, you should be relatively safe unless you stumble across an NPC. They will show up in a bubble of about 1000 LY around the main bubble, a smaller bubble around Colonia, in the various tourist destinations, in the refuelling station systems, and in the systems with the asteroid bases.

The devil is in the details: If you have a dormant bounty, you need to be scanned by an NPC from the faction that issued the bounty, everybody else including players can scan you without ill effects. If you have a normal (active) bounty, everybody is your enemy.

I think there may be a bug or something because the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I noticed I had a 10,000cr bounty on my head from a faction in my home system.
Thats like a murder amound so would've expected to have been shot by the station. But I think it appeared out of thin air

If you fail a mission, you get a fine with a timer. If you do not pay it before the timer on the fine expires, the fine turns into a bounty...

Thank you!

Got the same problem as Loki12345.

After failing twice in "laid back slave trading with a docking computer" , I got a fine of 700K. (Got me 2 achievements!)
Never knew what to do about it and forgot before I decided to go on tour.
Now it turned into a bounty while I'm far outside the bubble.
I'm glad I have a set of 2 AFMUs so I can survive this 7 days in wilderness until the bounty turns into a legacy fine.

I'm willing to pay the bill but I'm a little short right now.
I will have the creds, when turn in the exploration data.
Who will be shooting? Just other ships or stations too?
And what would be the safest way to get rid of the bounty?

I read about switching to a sidewinder and get shot by a friend or NPC.
I would prefer to get rid of it another more official way.

According to that chart I can pay off the legacy fine. I guess in the system(s) where I committed my crimes.

Is this what I have to do?
1. Wait for 7 days (Active bounty turns in a legacy fine)
2. Visiting the station, where I committed the crime. (No need to sneak in because it's a legacy fine and not a (dormant) bounty, right?)
3. Paying off the legacy fine. No need to sneak out, cause I'm clean again, right?

Pure worries! :D

I usually just ignore things like this, until someone starts shooting me for it.
Then I kill them and resume to ignore it.

Eventually it goes away completely.

Thought you can go to the location where you received fine or low security system that have a broker network and pay it there.
