Just returned--what's new in game?

Hey all. I've just decided to get back into ED after a prolonged absence. I left just as the Engineers update happened. Can anyone give me a rundown on that as I am quite clueless. I frankly didn't like what I saw when it very first came online--seemed convoluted beyond words. Has it been smoothed at all? Also, am I just out of practice or is the game MUCH harder now?

Well first change to enginneers was making mats triple as you picked one up.
Second, each roll only require 1 unit of each its listed materials.
And biggest change. All cargo type requirements rolls has been removed from the game.
You might still need some for unlocks but those aren't. That hard to come by mostly.
The SLF's are awesome.
Nobody gives two hoots about multicrew, its as usefull to my game as cqc.
Interdiction minigame is fixed, and almost to easy to win.
Npc's has been mostly fixed.

And now tremendous bugs and whatnot in Pleiades.

2.2 introduced the SLFs (which as Tor said are great fun), passenger missions (which are good for making money, and the tourist ones are good for seeing sights you wouldn't normally visit), and some changes to things like white dwarfs, neutron stars, station interiors, and of course the Guardians mystery.

2.3 added Holo-me and multicrew, as well as mega-ships.

Thargoids (albeit as cut sceens, or crashed ships) are making an appearance.

Well passenger missions where just annoying, I ignore them.
I just don't need cargo to talk back at me.
