I can confirm after a couple of weeks in Summerland that in fact hee and indeed haw is what is special about it. I think it claims in the blurb to be the home of the largest private security firm in the Galaxy. Why then are there so many missions to destroy pirates?

I got the permit a couple of weeks ago and went to visit. Now in every imperial bulletin board I see the permit in the list of unavailable missions because I already have it :?

I've been wondering if a fix has been done to the rate of gaining ranks in the Empire. I got to Lord pretty quickly but it's been a long time now since I've seen any missions for gaining rank.

Eventually you will get a mission (probably hauling 4 tonnes of something) that if you accept and do it will promote you to Baron and then the duplicate Summerland permits will disappear from all the bulleting boards.

Summerland is just another disappointment for me and goes back to the game being rushed out. If a system is going to have permits it should have them for a reason. A restricted access base where you can buy uprated weapons or drives. A military installation where you can get missions to off stinking Feds. Just something to actually make having the permit worthwhile.

Well at least it's got something now. A number of combat zones! War has broken out between 2 minor factions close to the Van Rijhn outpost. You can also pick up combat missions from the outpost from the controlling faction Patron's Principles to off both sides! War what is it good for?......upping my combat rating! ;) :D

question: do i need to visit Summerland or will i continue to rank up without? it's 180Ly away and is a bit of a hassle to build a long-range ship and hunt down all the needed parts for it, just to go somewhere i didn't need to go, in a ship i didn't want
