Oculus rift DK2

Postby evovi » Fri Nov 13, 2015 11:52 am

I currently use a track IR for my gaming sessions, but, I've been watching the rifts on eBay and seen some pretty decent prices in recent weeks... So much so I'm considering getting one

Does anyone have one/use one for elite Or anything else can offer some info on how it performs/behaves/works in real life.. You tube reviews etc are very very spread on opinion and not helping my decision..

I have an oc 4gb GeForce 960 - 4gb ddr2 ram my Processor is the quad core extreme qx9650 over clocked - yes the CPU is old but it still throws amazing performance out more so than my i5 laptop by far
Is this a system that will be able to support the rift?

Don't fancy investing in one to find my hardware needs a massive overhaul

Does it take one monitor output to run? So Can I leave my current 2 connected for when I'm not in the rift?

And finally - are they any good for watching movies on?

Nuuuuuuuuuu!

Don't do it.

Wait for Vive and Release. The DK2 will be a waste when the new one comes and they update software and it wont work anymore.

Oh! Talk about both feet.. I've asked the seller to retract the bid... Yeah latest sdk is not supported by elite... And it's not planned on being until v1 which will be full release

I'm sure you would have gotten it to work.
I myself have been very tempted to get one used.

But VR and probably a need gpu to use it is the one thing I intend to treat myself to next year.

DK2 is a fun toy, I've access to one to borrow and I've borrowed it a few times for a few days each time and had some fun, but I would not use one for day-to-day playing, there are a number of technological problems (too low res, and oversized red pixel makes everything look pixellated and the text very hard to read), that will probably be fixed with CR1 which has better panels, but sadly it's taken them WAY too long to bring it to market and it looks like rival products, especially the Vive, are going to outstrip it. OR needed to get the CR version out a year ago to get market traction, and their inability to do so has pretty much guaranteed the OR will fail.
