A quick update. I loaded on the new beta drivers last night and they helped a little bit but I've still not got the perfect situation for my X52.
No profile loaded - the pinkie switch is still not recognised in game (clutch mode unchecked, tried with settings dialogue open and closed). The scroll wheel is detected (as the mouse scroll wheel, not something different) and it does now only move one increment for next/previous tab or next/previous subsystem.
Profile loaded - With everything unprogrammed then the pinkie switch is found in game, the scroll movement is not. In the profile if I set the 'wheel scroll up' and 'wheel scroll down' to keys (eg numpad 5 & 2) and then map the keys in game then it does work and only moves the required amount of increments in tabs/subsystems. The problem is that with keys like 5 & 2 being used then if you go to the communications tab it starts typing '5' or '2' when you try to move left or right due to the auto focus on text option, which would be a pain to go without. If I try to use 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' it stops working.
So, a small step forward in that If a profile is loaded I can now use both the pinkie switch and the scroll wheel, I just need to be careful what I use them for.
P.S. Sorry for the colours used as emphasis, I needed to log my testing results in an attempt to keep my sanity.
P.P.S. It occurs that the step forward might not be the new driver, it could have been through the act of removing and reloading the driver cleanly.
