If gaming is all you do that is.
Personally I'm waiting for at least next gen to bother, then I will consider building a new rig.
Apart from my current gpu (that had to be updated to run my new screen) my PC is from mid 2014.
Still expect at least another year out of it, and after updating moving it to a more Home theater couch gamer type machine.
I have a 780, the non-ti variant. It's a bit underpowered being a repurposed titan, and is lacking in the VRAM department. Having to turn down the witcher so much and turn on motion blur is really why I need/want to upgrade soon. My monitor has to be replaced anyway, as it is failing. I don't want to replace this with another basic 1080p screen, and I know I can't run a 144Hz screen off this GPU. So I need a new monitor, I might as well get a proper replacement that's at least 1440p and has gsync. So that means I need to upgrade my GPU now instead of waiting. Replacing my monitor is becoming non-optional though. Stupid warranty repair never actually repaired it, and it went out of warranty extended-warranty right after it got back.. Squaretrade never dicked me about like this. I won't be using Asurion via the Walmart Care Plan again.. I know, I know, don't buy electronics from Walmart.. It was really a good deal for this monitor, and it was in stock.
I'd love to just buy a new GPU, a Vive, and be done with it..but I don't think that's a realistic option. If I already had a non-failing main monitor,s ure. But I can't go demo a vive for 2-3 hours to see how it would affect me, especially considering my susceptibility to motion sickness.
Being an adult (sort of) is the only reason I've not gone back to nvidia.com and click "checkout, next day before 10am shipping" on that TXP already.. FFS, I really want to. Logic be damned, I want 4k60 and a giant e-peen boosting GPU to go with.

(Well, that and the fact I'm sure the 1080Ti will likely be a near-TXP performer for $800, and I could SLI that for near the same actual price.. )
