So I needed a new chair..

Couple of weeks ago I sat down into my trusty ol' office chair, the one I bought at age fifteen in 1996, it was once good and quite solid but nineteen years is quite a long time, and that was about 60 kg ago.
You know that thing that happens to your body once you discover the glories of beer and fatty fast foods :)

(When you grow up in the sticks of Norway your first definition of fast food is how quickly you must run to catch up with it, and shoot it)

So this is my new chair, co-pilot approved.
(pardon my shitty cell phone pics)

But as soon as I tested this out with ED, it just felt wrong, and not comfortable at all, it appears this chair needs to be a bit lower than my old one as to not cut off the circulation to my legs and that positions my HOTAS way to high, and it was too high to begin with.

Lowering my old desk helped, but not quite enough.
I refused to call it quits and decided to do a bit of a build.
The aim was something of a mix between computer desk and a simpit.
Lofty goals for someone who could barely glue to sticks together without causing someone injury :P

So here's my first start, a basic U-frame, my intention was to use three legs for the desk section and mount my three monitors to each leg that then extends up high enough (I have wall mount's on my screens from before)

Just before this pic I had pushed onto a 25 kg door I had leaned up against a wall for the last few years and caused it to fall smack onto my head :S

After mounting the desk, I start to get a very sneaky feeling I have completely disregarded something important.
But the desk itself is surprisingly level :D

First dry run.

and my suspicions become pretty much confirmed, I had completely forgot how large and or wide my screens are.
And this double confirms it, I know I'm myopic but that's pretty ridiculous.

And there is absolutely no way I can all three screens in there.
So I go back to wall mounting them, and take my saw to the top of the "legs" and just hack them down.
My saw is of this type. (rust and all)

and all parts including the desktop was cut using just that, only power tool I have is an electric drill :)

After a while I have my screens back and mounted on the wall again.

The right shelf was a little to low, raised that easily enough by adding a piece of 2"x4" scraps to the right shelf, but my throttle and stick was also a bit too far apart, I needed to get them closer.

I think I found a fairly ok solution with another piece of board, and a wood screew and two washers, the stick, throttle and my g13 fits on two boards that rotate on a singe screw, I can then push them aside when using the desk normally like so.

And again, co-pilot approves.

So this is now my current setup and rig, what I spent last week on and pretty much why I'm now busted down to rank 3 in power play :P

Quick geek creds if you can guess what the black box with the yellow light is 8-)

I was looking at it thinking I've seen one of those somewhere but can't remember what it is. So I'm going to just go ahead and say it's an amplifier.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it's an uninterruptible power supply.
Cant' find the model at the moment.

Thanks guy's, its not perfect but as close to it as I can get it, now just add VR and a new gpu next year and we should be cooking with fire :D

HAMM3R is closest so far, it's my Emotiva XPA-5 for my other expensive hobby :P

Very nice setup/build! Your skill at building animal replicas is very good as well...the cat looks so life like.

Very nice :)

I bought an arduino a few week ago to make a custom "keyboard" for elite - my little project for when the cold dark nights set in - figured it would be a little cooler having a big illuminated blue button saying FSD under it than currently switching t3 not sure what else I will build into it yet - still in planning stages

I saw a water glass and a coffee cup, but I didn't see any beer.
Are you sure this thing is going to stay together?

Naw - it looks cool. Only missing hot stones and a water dipper. ;)

Honestly, not sure at all, not sure what so ever and that's saying something considered I used about as much 2"x4" as a small house :P

No beer in these pictures but it probably wouldn't have hurt.
I could also mention that I spent less than 400 NOK on this and half of that was just screws and stuff I didn't use at all so probably could have gotten away with almost half as much.
A little more than two six packs :P
Even a shitty IKEA desk would easily cost four times as much, and be useless for a HOTAS.
