Help With Joystick Settings Please

Hi

I used to play Elite Dangerous a lot some months back (on Steam), but stopped for a while due to work commitments etc. In that silent time I had uninstalled it from my labtop. I wish I hadn't.

Anyway, I have recently installed Elite Dangerous Horizons, but I am having great difficulty with my joystick settings.

I used the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro; a joystick I used with great success on ED.

Today though, trying to programme it to my personal preferences on EDH I am having trouble with the Pitch Up setting.

I click on Pitch Up and pull back on the joystick, and the choice is registered with no proplem. Likewise Pitch Down, Roll, Yaw.

But for some reason when I play the game the Pitch Up refuses to work. I pull back on the joystick and nothing happens. I am assuming there is nothing wrong with the joystick itself as the programme registered the joystick movement in that direction when I was setting my preferences.

I am not sure if anybody can advise me on this, but I have a screen shot of my joystick settings below. Would appreciate any thoughts/hints/tips/advice.

Thank you vary much.

Strange one, but I also see that you are defining your joystick as buttons, not analog axis's when binding for axis you only bind the one not up, down, left, right etc.

An easy way to see of it's an axis and not a button assignment is the deadzone slider next to it.

Tor is Right. Has to be on the Pitch Axis not the Pitch Up Pitch Down. Those are for Buttons.

Thank you to those wgo have offered help.

I changed the settings to reflect the advice given, I hope. I have bound the analogue rather than digital.

The pitch up responds now but the proplem I have now is that when the joystick is set to neutral position, the ship keeps pitching downwards of its own accord.

I seem to remember having this proplem with ED; goodness knows what I did to correct it. :?

Analogue bindings:

It's either the calibration of the stick, which you can check through the control panel in windows, or it might be that you need to adjust the deadzone settings to compensate for the sticks issues.

Depends on how much money you want to spend.

The Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X is a very poular choice for £35, I started with one and it's very good for the money.

If you want to spend more, the X52 Pro is the one you see in all the FD videos (and the one in our ships), lots of people are happy with it.

I use an X-55 and I am very happy with it.

I started with the 3D pro, then moved to the t-flight x and now have the X52.
If you can afford it go for the X52 (or even the pro) but the t- flight x is a nice little stick.

I'm using a T-Flight and I'm happy with it. If money allowed would probably go for X-52 for more buttons and hats (and looks;)), but this can be overcome by binding a mod button (found this out days ago) or using Voice Attack.

Using the CH 568 Combatstick and the CH throttle. Both work wonderful and would recommend them.
