Problem launching Horizons

So... I've been away from the game for a while. Preordered it but never tried Horizons apart 20min in beta...
I have a fully patched client but nothing happens when I hit play. I tried reinstalling, I even tried the Steam version... still - nothing happens.
No errors, no nothing. The launcher just stays unresponsive and the only thing I can do is crash it to restart it.
Any ideas?

This happened for me and it turned out that I had actually downloaded and 64bit E: D and not horizons. Because a download had happened it set the button to 'play' but did nothing.
I made sure that Horizons was selcted and did a 'verify' and that sorted it for me.

I deinstalled ED, and installed ED: Horizons from Steam - so it shouldn't be an issue. All files are verified and the client says it's up-to-date.
Still nothing

Then reboot and try again is all I have, sorry.

As a troubleshooting step, try temporarily disabling your AV software - there have been reports of AV blocking EDs watchdog application which causes the main client to crash. If turning off your AV works, then you can turn it back on, and within your AV configuration, add whitelist entries for the main ED executable and also 'watchdog.exe' in the same folder.

Skip, when you updated the launcher, did it do all the C#/+/.net re-distributable files as well? I had that issue before on a launcher update that screwed the pooch and didn't give me an error, just would lock up the launcher.

Unfortunately nothing helped. All C#/.net components are up to date, AV has nothing to do with the launcher since the same thing happens when AV is disabled...
Sigh... guess I'll just leave it be.
Edit: Hmm... It looks like you can't launch the game via the launcher alone. I had to run it through steam and then I got the steam logo show up on the launcher as well. After that I couldn't chose the game version (if I start the launcher i have ED x86, ED x64 and Horizons x64).
Looks like it works this way
