RX 480 - time to upgrade. (for me)

I have a GTX 760 2GB from EVGA in my system for a couple of years now and honestly there is nothing wrong with the card and runs pretty much everything to a satisfying level.
I just recognize the additional heat and load the card gets constantly from pushing itself now and then, and I think it's time to move on.
With the 1080 and even 1070 just not within my available budget (I would need to upgrade the rest of the system as well to warrant such a powerful card, and I have no desire for that... yet), the RX 480 seems like the perfect upgrade step for me at this point in time.
Card should ship by the middle of next week, will try to post some impressions by then.

I've been reading/viewing some very good reports on the RX 480.
Such as:

I'm also interested in this card, but I want to wait until 3rd party cards are out. I want to see what Sapphire can do with the card, usually they have a lot better cooling solution compared to the reference model.

Many sites are concerned about the power draw (at times more than 75W from the PCI-E slot), I trust in my MoBo to not detonate on me when the card has load. Don't know about cheaper MoBo's though.

Well, I won't upgrade anytime soon. Bought a R9 390 one week before the RX 480 announcement.

Yeah, I wouldn't ditch a rather fresh R9 390 for the RX 480 either.
It is so hard to find a good upgrade point. Theoretically you can wait forever for the next generation, and then the next generation and again the next generation.
For me it seemed like the right time.

Looks like a very sweet value for money card.
And those are honestly the best ones. I still consider that I got the 980ti an incident of insanity

For gtx 960 money with 4x on board memory, the first 960 only 2gb of ram.
And for elite I often see my gpu ram usage bump into 5GB in station environments and surface roaming.
I admit to not having paid much attention to amd over the past few years but this one has entered my list of options if I where to get tasked with and there budget build again.

If you've already bought the RX480, congrats to you. If not, hear me out. With the new Pascal cards being much more power efficient, and most games relying heavily on GPU, I'm not sure why you would have to change any other component than your GPU.

And seeing as the 1070 is beating the 980TI in real life benchmarks, I would say that the 1070 is the ultimate bang for your buck right now:

And the 1070 is more than twice as expensive than the 480. You are kinda focusing on wattage and completely forgetting that part.

In my defence he is arguing two points, one that buying a 1070 would require upgrading other components, which in fact as far as I can tell he does not.
So there.
