Warning for GeForce Experience Users

Anyone using GeForce Experience (I use it for Shadowplay recording) - Beware!

There is a new update available today.

Despite update settings it will download and try to install anyway. If you can, say no (dont accept the licence agreement)
Breaks shadowplay as you know it.
Crashes game when you capture.
Captures the launcher, not the game
Mandatory account sign-in to save settings
And more.

Trying to uninstall and revert. Not easy.
Tries to install again anyway from the older version.

Looking at the NVidia forum posts, it is not just me.

Caveat Emptor

I am in the 'WTF have you done NVidia' camp.
Finally reverted and blocking the update.

After uninstalling GeForce Experience I just reinstalled it a few weeks ago for the shadow play functionality. I uninstalled it previously cause I didn't agree with Nvidia shoving Experience down my throat if I just wanted to update my graphics drivers.
Looks like Nvidia is back to the "we know what's good for the people even if they don't" mantra that seems prevalent in the Tech industry these days.

Thanks for the heads up.

In case needed, which option worked for you to revert to the previous version Darwin? It looks like a bit of a minefield.

Is there a 'better' option for providing the same sort of functionality as Shadowplay so that I can go without Experience at all?

OBS is the streamer/recorder most use but require a lot more from the user in initial setup but also do a hell of a lot more. It might be a performance hit compare to shadowplay.

But I find SP rather unreliable and basically a, push the button and take what you get, feature with a 50/50 chance of freezing my game up.

Open broadcaster can of course be setup to straight record, stream and or the classic shadow play feature of recording the game so you can get recording of x past minutes.
All to be setup with varying key strokes and controlled by macro's or voice attack or however you prefer.

My i5 was fine for 1080p but after going ultra wide or vr it can't honestly keep up.

If you have not updated already, and have not accepted the licence agreement, clearing the files in the (from memory) C:\ProgramData\NVidia\GeForce\Updates folder seemed to work (Win10), then edit the config file next level up, to change the part regarding accept licence agreement from false to true.

I also discovered that even an uninstall and re-install does not completely revert the shadowplay changes. While you get the old UI back, it seems to be the new 'online only' functionality, so it only appears when you have an internet connection, (not a big deal for ED, but... if you wanted to capture desktop / another game while offline, you cant)

As for reverting, the best source was on the NVidia forum links above and below.

Always be wary of links to old versions not from the nVidia site, I used this:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/GFE/GFECl ... 11.4.0.XXX (replace xxx with exe if you trust that source (I did))

Some also suggest to get the driver bundle again, as it still has the old version in it and do a custom install

As always with forums, the best protection against duff advice, or dodgy downloads, exists above your shoulders!

This thread has some similar / other suggestions:

Has anyone heard if this is still an issue, or has Nvidea updated the update?
