Opinions: should I buy, or should I wait?

I've finally achieved baron in the empire and saved up enough for an Imperial clipper..... But 1.2 is coming out with two new ships.... Should I get the clipper, or wait to see what these ships are....

I have no opinion myself, but I've only read complaints about the Clipper (except for style).

Personally, I would wait... but that is just me. I know its tough because the clipper looks cool (although how much of your own ship do you see besides the outfitting screen) and you worked your way up in rank, but just keep earning more money and when the 2 new ships come out you can make an informed decision at that time.

Again, that's just me as any money I'm making now is being saved up for something beyond my current Asp, but I don't know what it is yet until I see what else is new and if its too expensive or not appealing I'll go with one I had my eye on.

I tried the Clipper for a while and it's a great ship. It looks good, sounds good has great hardpoints etc etc.
BUT the cost of module upgrades is huge, repair costs are eye watering and it's not the best at anything IMHO.
I found myself going back to the Asp for combat and the Type 7 for trading.

The other bit that kept catching me out was that it needs a large landing pad and that makes choosing missions more tricky.

I'm hoping the two new ships are going to be in my price range.

About the repair and operating costs, they do not really concern. I remember having the same "eye popping" concerns when I first started running with the Asp. That was until I got used to the fact that even when combat outfitted, I still had enough cargo room to make minimum 20,000 cr anytime I moved from one system to another.

I guess it was all a matter of perspective. Each time you move a level, you have to re-adjust your thinking as to whats expensive and what is not. Any of the potential new ships are going to have significantly higher running cost compared to the Asp.

...but considering on ONE round trip I can net 250,000 cr on an Asp, and the clipper has DOUBLE the space..... not as much of a concern.

however, I think I will wait. No harm, and more time to grind equipment cash.
