I must be a dinosaur, used to use BASIC, FORTRAN, and COBOL.

Also used these, remember learning BASIC at work on an Apple IIc ! ;) DOS was a reference to the PC world.
I even remember at work when the computers dept was callled "mecanography" and was using Bull systems with punched holes in cardboard cards. It was in 1983 or 1984.

Back on the subject of tools... :)
I find it a bit much to call these trading tools exploits.

There's a bit of difference between a walk-through guide giving you all the secret locations of a game, and a trading tool which does nothing more than provide market updates and navigation aides.

It doesn't even necessarily break immersion, like this guy said in this fantastic thread on the FDEV forums yesterday, have a secondary laptop or tablet on your knees to access these data banks, just like a CMDR would do in his ship.
In our early 21st century we already have live-market updates and Tom-Tom navigation, so really having such a mechanism in the 34th century is not a leap of any imagination.
We even have GalNews broadcasting daily news pieces throughout the galaxy and a CMDR docked in Altair shouldn't know that Lave is begging for Palladium?
And don't forget that these tools rely on crowd-sourcing data, meaning they are unreliable and you still take a chance every time you dock to see that the prices you were expecting have collapsed.

Sorry never meant to start a hot discussion on trading tools. It is up to each player to enjoy the game the way he likes.

My point was only to say I wouldn't use them because profit is not my goal and I have fun using my own brain rather than a 3rd party tool with crowd-sourcing data. ( in real life I still use paper maps and have no Tom Tom navigation... don't even have a smartphone ! ;) )

Since Elite is not a competition, I don't mind at all that other people use them and that they fly around in shiny Anacondas when I'm still buying equipment for my Cobra ... :)

Hi,

I don't also care about the maximum profit. Just flying place to place and use TD command --towards to see what interesting there's between the places. Always use optimal route and explore all unknown places too. I think that Cobra MK3 is my work horse there and now. Maybe Fer De Lance, but not any bigger than Asp.

The feeling is the key. Those scary white dwarves or neutron stars, beautiful planets and so on. All these are high above the maximum profits :)

For now I push my environment to the new level.

I Start Elite thru the Steam client
My Linux box has package shellinabox installed (ssh-shell in web-browser)
I disabled ssl on it, because the server is my lan side and there's no ports open on wide area network
Now i have the ssh-shell login in Steam Browser start page

No alt+tab anymore :)
