Darn NPC's

Postby Blooper01 » Sat Apr 11, 2015 4:30 am

I spent the day today playing in a combat zone and hunting wanted ships. I had built up about 3 million credits and stopped in a combat zone to get a few kills for a mission I had. I got into a dog fight after getting my required kills and got jumped by a bunch of Vultures (NPC ships mind you) and got lit up. They never killed me, just took out my thrusters and left me drifting dead stick in space. I had to self destruct to be able to return to space dock. So I lost all my bounties and my insurance funds, and went out to try and earn them back. I got another million credits built up and the same dang thing happened, a group of NPC vultures came in and toasted my bread leaving me with no thrusters and dead stick in space AGAIN. Self destruct again and I called it a day. Is there anything you can do to save yourself in a situation like that? I know there are the auto field repair modules (I just replaced mine with a hull reinforcement earlier today)? :(

I believe the 'reboot/repair' option in the functions will repair a small amount of health on completely broken modules, however taking double the amount that is repaired from a random module over 5% health to do so. This should be enough to get you back to a station though.

They didn't just blow you up? Interesting. Might be a new AI strategy, or special for CZs? (Where you in a CZ and not in a RES, in fact?)
Otherwise, yes, the cannibalizing function should make it possible for you to crawl back to the barn ... shame there are no flame/smoke animations for heavily damaged ships coming in ...

Sounds like u need to upgrade the shield and maybe consider some chaff. Or get a better combat ship, not sure u listed what u were using, some recommend the vulture or imperial clipper, that said ive got my cobra pimped to he max and it handles most smaller targets. Then again im saving my credits for 1.3 when im guessing there will be shiny things, ive got an asp for trading, given i live on the fringe the bigger ships cant dock in the outposts where i live

I don't exactly call my ship weak or not battle ready, but I am saving for a Vulture.

First time I was in a high intensity CZ and the second time a low intensity CZ.
