I've been playing Elite ALOT, Got shot down alot in open play and did the hermit thing of playing private/solo.
But its not the same as playing Open without the random encounter of friendly people(who do not blow you apart from having no cargo or anything of value) Hope to meet people here to do some trading , PvE Bounty Hunting ect.

It is rather great that no one here will blow you up just because they didn't get paid.

Though there are one or two commanders (who shall remain nameless) that will give you occasional "love taps" with their ships.
