Yeah, the in-game voice chat USUALLY works great, though the other day I had a near impossible time being understood by/understanding CMDR's Eva and PhysicsOrFiction.

Perhaps sometimes the game doesn't quite like the span between the Mountain West United States to Australia...

@UnmarkedBoxcar I sometimes have that problem with friends in and near Canada and I am in Cali. I dont know if you use open mics or not but I know when I changed over to a toggled push to talk that things improved a great deal.

i used an open mic on headset - my bro on a desk mic - but only 20 miles apart - may help

I'll be using a desktop mike too, when I get everything else sorted. It already has a 'mechanical' talk-toggle, will that do the same job?

You will have to test it to see. I had and used an on mic mechanical toggle for a while on my mic but in some games even though I was not speaking and no voice was being transmitted feedback would keep the dead line open. In a game like ED that will cause the "realistic" popping and chirping of the line going indefinitely for your wingmates to hear even though you wont be saying anything.
