Get to work early to deal with some server stuff, and as everyone is just getting there the power goes out for the whole neighbourhood.
Boss has to walk down 4 flights of stairs because elevator is out to get to my office which is basically a large windowless room waving his Macbook around and looking pissed.
"Hey Loriath, why the hell is the WiFi not working?" He yells to me into a dark room where I am working on my laptop with a flashlight lighting my desk.
"Working On it!" I yell back as I am checking to make sure about 200 servers are going to gracefully shut down if the generator we have to take care of this sort of thing ends up running out of fuel. No idea how long the power will be off. Colleague is on the cell phone to the power company.
"Okay!" he yells back and walks back up the stairs 4 flights to his office with a wonderful large window that is letting lots of sunshine in.
The power was out for 3 days, affected most of the Eastern USA and Canada. Generator lasted 8 hours.
My Point? Your downtime is meaningless

And I worked for idiots.
