I could see use in something like a micro warp drive, something to say, make your ship jump forward a set number of meters after a charge time, could really make for an interesting bit of strategy in combat. Perhaps limited in the same way as mass limits FSDs? other than that, I wouldn't really want anything that removed the feeling of "big ness" that is elite

I always assumed nav beacons transmitted live station position data to incoming ships.

Personally I'd prefer it if Frontier allowed us to select which star to jump to in explored systems, or maybe they could implement some kind of limited use supercruise boost (like the upcoming FSD jump boost) that's expensive and maybe overheats the ship.

Lol, the way I read this I thought the OP was talking about a lightweight supercruise-only FSD for in-system travel. That I would have no issue with, though it's functionally the same as fitting the smallest FSD available.

Yes and no. I get the idea, as Loraith says, that this is a space flight game and is (mostly) about the flying. However I also see it as a game and flying in a straight line for 30-40minutes is somewhat tedious, and game breaking for those who may have to steal minutes here and there to play.

Alpha Century is an example, I know the Hutton run is a badge of honour (I have done it myself a number of times), but aside from the first time 'just to do it' and a couple of runs for the mug CG it seems a pointless mechanic. Even more so when I have seen systems that are a similar distance apart as the two stars in AC.

It could be a drive that has a high fuel usage (greater than what you would expend for the same distance in SC) and can only be used for distances greater than say 250,000LS and the star it locks on to has to be a certain mass.

Another option could be to increase the rate of acceleration and deceleration of the FSD, making it quicker to get to a higher speed (and thus to your destination quicker). It could even be another type of FSD that uses fuel quicker.

But having said all that, it wouldn't bother me if it wasn't added!
