What additions do you run with ED?

LOL another big WinAmp fan here, for music. VLC/Ace for streams & GOM for my movie/show collection.

I hear you all about keyboard width too - My Steel Series Merc Stealth tucks away under the 32" screen for Elite, I have a cheapo (£20) 'Cerulian' mini-board which I bought for the lappy but sits very nicely between the X-52Pro controls & still leaves room for an ashtray. VERY important!

I do have a Razor Nostromo, but am yet to find any real use for it in space - even if having it sat there makes it look much more like the cockpit layout.

I don't use my Logitech headset much in-game, mostly coz I have to turn the game volume down so much to use it without bleedthrough. Having no family & few neighbours means I can use my 550w 5.1 system the way the manufacturers intended

I did give headtracking a whirl, using OpenTrack & FreePIE - it works fine, but it just feels 'wrong' to have a moby on my head so I stopped.

I use Xion Audio Player for radios and music, because it has global hotkeys that allow me to control it from my HOTAS (including the volume).

Winamp is controlled by a tab in powergrid....So I can alter the master volume......Music volume and Mic volume....Plus pause play etc....

Foobar2000 for music and MPC-HC for video. Both are very lightweight and fast, been using these for ages.
On Linux, Clementine for music and SMplayer for video. There is also a Windows version of these two.

So my impatience got the better of me and seeing as ED is pretty much the only game that has me hooked, I decided to grab a DK2 (I know it isn't long till the CV1) and OMFG.... I am blown away by it in truth. First time I fired it up, I was in a station in my Anaconda and it is the first time I have actually seen how big these things are. Looking around the ship is just wow and it has made ED go up to 11.

Whilst waiting for delivery from the bay, I had a good read up to familiarise with everything and what was needed to be done which helped and ED worked perfectly off the bat except for being upside down A quick fiddle in monitor settings had it working properly though.

A shame that I have to keep switching between 0.7 and 0.5 runtime but it is only a case of using a switcher program that the community made, so all easy there as well.

Gripes are pixels and clarity but after playing for a few days with it, I can say that our eyes start to ignore the pixels and this makes for a better experience but the CV1 will be better for that. I have been doing the CG goal at a CZ and it is amazing leaning forward and looking up. Jaw dropping in fact and I was totally alone when I fired it up in ED for the first time and actually said out loud "Oh my ****ing God" I was blown away propers!

Oh and running Voice attack really does help. Saves guessing where the KB is, let alone specific keys. Plotting a course is the tricky bit but I just lift it up to see the keys

Like the track ir, situational awareness is unsurpassed - the ability to lean forward twist, tilt - if you loose track of your enemy - you need to go to flight school or your flying an anaconda against an eagle lol

You will have to give a demo I wasn't aware that swapping sdk's was so easy tbh... Good on ya!

My money is now tied up in a new desk and a possible new PC dedicated to the "desk" good job I don't have a wife anymore lol!

Think with the desk, PC and my track ir, I'll be content until the vr systems come down in price

OK, I have added to my toolbox

Roccat PowerGrid running on my Sony Xperia, which sits nicely over that useless MFD panel on the X-52 Pro.

I made a custom grid which gives me 6 extra buttons that I can hit with my left thumb whilst keeping my hand on the throttle. 3 of them are macros for my fave power distro configs:-

RUN (2-4-0), SHIELDS (4-0-2) & ATTACK (3-0-3)
