That's the first load out I tried, now I have 1 x large pulse, 2 x medium beams, 2 x medium multi (all gimballed). I bring down the shield with the beams and pulse, then switch to multis and pulse.

I find one capacitor charge is enough to bring down the shields, then the pulse and multis go on for ever. On small ships I don't even bother swapping fire groups.

Thanks, I dont think I ever tried that set-up. I will give that try before I write the ship off for good.

I actually like the Imperial Clipper, I love her looks, her speed makes flying fun. How ever because of the silly fuel tank (why the ship is huge surely has enough room for 32t (16t each wing pod)), impacting on the jump range and poor shielding. The Python is my ship of choice currently. Just the ability to do anything with it and go anywhere. Would love to try a FDL though in the future.

A while ago I sold my Asp and Vulture and bought my Python. For a while I was underwhelmed, but stuck with it because I knew I had not yet upgraded many components. Now I have it mostly how I want it, and I am quite happy with its flexibility.

Sometimes I miss dancing around other ships in my Vulture, but have not been seriously tempted to go back.

I *might* get another Asp the next time I want to go exploring, but I might just refit the Python instead. :-D

The Python sure is pretty, though, especially with that Cobalt paint.

I would have to say the Asp for versatility and the Vulture for combat. Both are great for their given purpose and lead the field at their specialised areas of expertise. I fight for hours in the Vilture, it can dance with ships well over its size. The only ship that I struggle against is the Clipper, it has a knack of being able to face me when others cannot and they always target my canopy. I still take them down which is why I love the light footed Vulture so much. x2 large pulse lasers are up for any job, Pythons are fodder for those weapons.

As much as I adore my Python, but whenever I fly that, I can't wait and get back into my Fer-de-Lance. Its cargo bays are too small and the range is terrible. It's just that I've been wanting to fly the Fer-de-Lance myself since coming across it in 1984. I was so disappointed when I found it wasn't even included in the Frontier series.

I will never sell the Cobra. For me it will always be THE ship. The Clipper comes a close second, with the Asp third, and for sheer functionality, the Annie bringing up the rear.
Although the Cutter is what I am currently lusting after...

It depends on my mood... what I am on at the time..... So keeping all the best ships for related work seems the only way.

Dropship for life!
I have a bunch of other ships and I like them, but when I come back to the Dropship it always makes me smile. The way it wants to drift and tumble is just glorious and charming. This is a ship that isn't keen to please its pilot. It has character. It wants someone who knows how to handle it - and if you do, it'll give you a feeling of action and force no FDL will ever be able to. Other ships are more efficient killer or trader or explorer, but none does it with more character. This is the one I'll ride off into the sunset with. :) :P

Always the Cobra for me. I have several ships including a Cutter and Corvette but something about the Cobra is pure fun and quite a beast in combat.

I think we missed an obvious one...

Sometimes we go back to a Sidewinder, and not for reasons we'd like. :D
