I am a 24 y/o Belgian player who bought ED: Horizons for Christmas, and I think my money was very well spent as I near exclusively play this game as of now (with a bit of Civ5/Endless Space-Legend/Rise of Nations in between).
I got interested in the game by watching Obsidian Ant exploration videos, and subsequently am mostly interested in the PvE aspects of the game, but mainly to exploration. I spent the last 3 weeks grinding my way to an exploration-fitted asp explorer, which I got last Thursday. Sadly, it was already too late to sign up for the distant worlds expedition official roster, but I still wanted to do the journey, so I went in solo (scared of potential pirates/griefers waiting for defenseless targets) and set off into the unknown. For me, it will be my first exploration trip outside the bubble, so I don't know if I'll be able to make it to Beagle Point, but I plan on going at least to Sagittarius A and I'll see where to go from there. I currently am in a system neighbouring Thor's Eye, so as soon I my application to the private group is accepted, I'll switch to this mode and head towards the waypoint in the Lagoon Nebula.
See you in space Commanders
