For my fdl i will most likely keep my cannon, since gimballed is useless as it can barely aim up. So fixed one shot cannons are my thing.
A multicannon on fdl would require me to constantly aim the nose of the ship so high that i can barely see the enemy.
Cannon i only need to flip cannon into position and press once and return to laser fire position

Can't wait for the new weapons, but in the meantime I've got 3 Class 3 Gimbaled Pulses in primary fire group combined with 1 Class 4 Gimbaled Cannon and 2 Class 2 Gimbaled Cannons in secondary fire group on my Anaconda. Had PA's where the Cannons where. PA's rocked, but the heat issue and power drain meant I'd have to delay firing the Pulses. With Cannons, I can let everything fly at will.

Pretty devastating, and I think I'll keep the Cannons for now!

Only problem is, those projectiles don't discriminate, and if they don't hit your intended target they could impact someone else. Had one hit another Commander (actually think it was when I had the PA's but same deal). I stopped firing, stowed weapons, and apologized on the comm, then bugged out of the area to clear the wanted status.

I know he was in an FDL and his name started with an N. I hope he is ok. As far as I know only one stray shot hit him, but I was embarrassed that it happened. I normally don't play close to another Commander for these reasons, but I noticed he was taking it pretty hard from a couple of NPC's, so I tried to get the one that was on his tail. I feel bad about that. Not that you can't have friendly fire with lasers, but I think it's less likely (unless they fly between you and your target).

Which begs the question, what do you do if you notice another Commander in apparent trouble? Do you risk everything (being banned) and join the fight, or do you leave them to their skill and fate?

@Crimson - FWIW if I get hit by another Commander in friendly fire I take it with a pinch of salt. Just one of those things. And I have some wing-mates who seem to like to keep bumping into my Cutter, and that's OK too. Maybe they just like me. ;-)

Or you with your love bumps in a cutter taking down shields of a FDL :I

Back in my paintball days, my nickname was "friendly-fire". I was often as deadly to my teammates as I was to the opposition... :oops:

In the A-Team, a shot to face (preferably Missiles) is the equivalent of a "Hallo! How the hell are ya?" A shot to the tail is like a pat on the back, and ramming, well, that is like a Big Hug! We all love each other long time! :P

I run two c4 cannon a c3 t Beam and the rest G Beams.
I did try PA C4s but very hard to hit anything. I find that I am hitting more with the cannon recently under 500m, have slightly changed my combat style to 'get in closer'

I am looking forward to the new Multis.

In fact I find myself rather using lasers on the large slots and ballistics on the smaller.
Currently running three large bursts and 4 cannons on my vette.
Works oddly enough a lot better than the other way around.



I hit better now with the Cannon, however I was thinking of two three G beams on the four slots, a three T on the three and the rest ballistics.

What do you think?
