Indeed. Sony used to be so much more closed, and Microsoft more open on the console and IP protections, and then they flipped places.

Don't hold your breath. The amount of data that you would need to D/L to have a total offline experience makes that not only a horrid idea, but one they have said will never happen. The cost is not worth the number of players that would buy it. "Only 47 DVD's of data to install and I can play! Weeeee" Not.

Not the whole galaxy, but a subset ... say 1,000ly out, with the close nebula. I figure if they can fit it in 30GiB, they can fit it on a BluRay disc. That's basically the typical game download size these days, 30-60GiB. BTW, 47 DVDs is 200GiB. Many A-list Steam games are already passing 100GiB.

We already have that, it is called Twitch.TV and Xbox and PS4 can send to it natively.
