If you are docked at a planetary base where you are wanted or hostile... prior to 2.1's launch, DO NOT LAUNCH before reading this:
FDev added security vessels to planetary bases. If you are "wanted" or "hostile" at the base you are docked at... YOU WILL BE FIRED UPON when you try to launch!!!! By a lot of ships!!!
If you are in a weak ship, have weak shields, in a big & slow ship that costs a fortune in insurance, or are generally not very wealthy... DO NOT LAUNCH!
***Log out, exit the game completely, then start the BASE version of the game. When you spawn you will be in orbit around a planet and should be safe...for the most part (mwuahahaha) ..as there are no planetary landings in the base version of the game. Fly someplace safe, log out and back in to Horizons...voila! *(Credit/thanks go to CMDR Ximrats in the Frontier forums as well as our very own Cometborne for making this suggestion! I completely forgot about that and had originally suggested submitting a support ticket, yeah... bad idea... so again, Thank You!)
I'm not kidding nor am I exaggerating. I was in a Viper MK4 prior to 2.1's launch, best shields and 2 shield boosters, everything fully A rated. I was docked at Morgan Depot on HIP 10716, just messing around (after having earned my Empire ranking)... and as such, was wanted and hostile towards the owning faction.
When I logged on, missile warnings were going off non stop... yet, I tried to launch anyways. I figured I knew my ship was agile and "quick" enough at accelerating, and had decent enough shields for it's size, that I would be able to escape. NOPE!
It takes what, maybe 3 seconds for landing gear to retract when the docking clamps release... I was mashing both GEAR and BOOST buttons/ and my ship was all like... "HA! Sucker! Eject bro!...nope, TOO LATE!"... before my nose was even aimed up high enough to clear the docking pad. 3 seconds.... not even.
So, yeah, I posted this in the official forums, hopefully the word gets around. I know a lot of players wont think twice about it, they'll blow up once, figure they can make it on the 2nd try, and probably will... if they are experienced and ready for it. I ... was not ready for it!
On the 2nd attempt I was, and got lucky. Despite my best efforts, I barely escaped with slightly less than 40% hull left.
There you go, hopefully this finds the appropriate players BEFORE they blow up.
Thanks all!
