Hey folks. Just started up with ED this week. Had enough fun just plinking around the first day or so that I even decided to get a HOTAS setup and it's made the game even better.

I'm still sort of figuring out what to do in game, but I managed to participate a bit in the latest CG and got a decent chunk of change to purchase and upgrade a Cobra. I figured it was a good ship to try out various play styles based on my reading around the interwebs.

So far it seems bounties are holding my interest most.

One question I had is: what systems are folks usually hanging out around? I got connected to the Discord server so I can ask there when I get only but I was just curious if there was an area that folks tend to congregate.

And another, which may be a dumb one is: Is there anything different about playing in a private group vs. open? Other than the folks in the group are more focused on PvE? Like, do Community Goals still happen in a private group? Is commodity data the same?

Greetings and welcome to Mobius, Commander Wilbo Waggins.

You'll find that a fair number of members hang around Azrael and surrounding systems, which is our player faction's home. Also, participating in Community Goals is a great way to meet other commanders in the group.

In Open there are others (we call the griefers) who may kill you just for sport. In Mobius groups, we don't allow that so that you can go about your business in peace. CG's, commodities, missions, and all other aspects of the game function the same way no matter what mode (open/private group/solo) you are in.

and check out our TeamSpeak servers or Discord (voice and text chat) servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.
