Well cheers people for engaging with me on this thread. I appreciate it. I'm aware that sometimes posting stuff about being dissatisfied can bring other players down and that's not my intention. It's good to know that forum users can reply with encouraging thoughts rather than focusing on the negative points I made and flame throwing me for it.

Patch 1.2 will make or break the game IMO. So much of the long term appeal for me is riding on being able to play with people. So far 99.999% of my time has been solo, I don't even attempt to play with others as it's so unreliable. So I'm spending my time preparing by building my funds so that when group play does arrive I've got a stable of nicely kitted out ships to bring along to any group events, to run escort for others or to help newer players bounty hunt.
Elite is a long term game for me, waited 30 years for us to get this far. I don't mind waiting a bit longer for it to mature.

I've been at popular Seeking Luxuries sites the past week or so and it's been nice seeing other commanders.

It occurred to me - what if we had designated spots for different activities that people could visit, if they want to meet others while doing that activity.

For example, if we had 4 bounty hunting spots - one anarchy and one of each faction.

A good mining spot could work too.

Exploration probably wouldn't work, by its nature.

Trading generally wouldn't work either, as too many people at a site reduces its profits. Supply and demand appear to be bugged at the moment, so some routes may be ok. Some seeking luxuries spots also appear to have infinite supply (current popular one is in Tenche), but those don't last forever and I wouldn't be surprised if they're nerfed sometime in the next 2 weeks.

It's not the same as teaming up with someone, but you do see others and it gives the opportunity to chat.

Yeah Amun-Ra. That's the sort of stuff. Maybe start a thread about it. There seems to be a tide of Commanders suggesting similar meet ups. Good point. Cheers.

I tried the luxury traders, but the profit was no different than trading gold locally. Around 1500 pr. ton. That's the best I can do so far...
