Re: Horizons BETA SRV meetup - 2nd December

It's never a good sign when the organizer bails. With no concrete plans settled, I'd say this meet up has gone tits up.

I suggest Saturday to try and get the biggest group. Weeknights I generally don't get online until 2200 GMT (game time).
It's time to give this another go.

Bueller ..... Bueller ..... Bueller?

Is anyone still interested in this, or is it too late to set something up? I'd suggest this Saturday, either late afternoon or early evening GMT, but I have no idea of a cool planet to land on. Or maybe just try again after Horizons is released?
It's time to give this another go.

Dvorsi had a pretty cool planet, lots ravines, valleys and the top was the usual red hue but it turns green asyou go deeper.

I "swung by" Dvorsi to have a look and didn't spot a redish planet with greenish valleys or ravines, but they may have been on the dark side at the time. I'm spending the night at Rafferty's Mobius - it reminds me of home.
It's time to give this another go.

I'll try to be there then. I'll probably drop by earlier as well.

Everybody should keep their eye out for a good meet up planet for when Horizons is released. These are some of the things I'd be looking for:

It should be in civilized space and not thousands of LY away.
It should be relatively close to the jump point and not hundreds of thousands of Ls away.
It would be nice to have a great view of an interesting sun or planet.
It should have a depot or platform where we can land and refuel rearm and etc.
It should have some interesting features nearby that we can fly to and park our ships
(they don't fly away if you stay nearby, do they?)
A relatively flat area for parking ships. Gently rolling terrain and low G would help with buggy jumps.
Some narrow deep canyons for flying ships.

I stopped by Carthage and the moon around the Earth type planet had a depot with a nearby deep crater with a tall mountain in the middle. The mountain would make a good "Widow Maker" hill climb contest, and you could also have a buggy race around it. It was .16G so it wasn't bad for buggy jumping. But the view wasn't great and there were no canyons.

Anyway, I'm sure someone can come up with something better before release, assuming there is interest.
It's time to give this another go.
