To be fair, the presence of such people/groups is not FD's fault. The game mechanic is their fault, but the nature of some people - to twist what they're given to upset their fellow human - rests solely on those individuals.

It doesn't matter what FD did to provide a multiplayer experience. (Some of) the people you meet in open will use the nature of the game to spoil others' enjoyment.

The people who join Code, that bloke who blew up the returning explorer, the ones who take out harmless sidewinders - they are all not normal.

He WAS a recruit. DigitalMandalorian revoked his status in code. Although they are not offering any other resolve as it happened in Mobius. As per GluttonyFang:

I believe there is nothing out of the ordinary of what CMDR Rinzler O7O7O7 did. He decided to roleplay as a traffic enforcement officer with questionable methods. However, it does not breach the code in the sense that as long as victim parties travel under the speed limit of 100 m/s, said parties will have no problem with the issue at hand. This is a complaint better filed to FD rather than us.

My reasoning behind my stand is that this is akin to criminals complaining against law enforcers, or pirates complaining against bounty hunters.

Speeding is illegal around stations, therefore branding anyone that speeds a latent criminal, or even just a criminal, I don't see validity in the complaint due to this.

Also, since this incident occurred in Mobius, I believe it is better for a representative of Mobius to speak to me, instead, if there is any grievances that they would like me to address on the behalf of The Code. The Code's jurisdiction only extends to its members, and Mobius is a separate mode outside of our jurisdiction, I believe it is best for Mobius (the person) to remove said Cmdr if he feels necessary and bring forth any grievances that he would like The Code to address, or any administrative officers within Mobius.

I did think of one solution for PvE, although it is sledgehammer to crack a nut. In a private group there could be a PvE setting. This would then activate zero damage when weapons strike another player, no damage would happen if ship is hit by another ship. As a short term 'dirty' measure that would help for PvE groups who will always have the odd psychotic/sociopath member infiltrate. It could also be expanded to allow PvP in certain circumstances (combat zones for example). That said this method is not the best - or even a good - suggestion, but might be something that could be implemented without a massive code re-write at least as a stop-gap.

Longer term there would need to be a considered approach, at least better private group admin so more than one person can help deal with rouge members/manage the group. Much like a forum being able to suspend or remove access to the group etc. As well as decent search tools to find a single member listed in a group of what 20k?

I doubt they'll be doing that for a while, some idiot just put a 50 million credit bounty out for someone to infiltrate the group and kill Mobius on video.
